VAT in Västra Götaland: more and more with covid-19 after New Year

[ad_1]

On Monday, December 14, 33 patients with covid-19 received intensive care in Västra Götaland. On the first Monday of 2021, three weeks later, the number has more than doubled.

74 patients with covid-19 are admitted to the intensive care unit (IVA) in the region. The year has thus started with the highest prices since the end of May 2020.

The increase in intensive care was already evident on weekdays, and has continued so after the turn of the year. Statistics from the Swedish Intensive Care Registry show how the number of patients with VAT crown went from 64 to 72 between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

The most significant increase has occurred at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. There, 42 patients are treated in IVA. Three weeks ago I was 14.

Healthcare in distress

Better treatment methods have contributed, among other things, to a lower proportion of corona patients reaching VIA during the second wave compared to the first. At the same time, healthcare as a whole is under more pressure than ever.

A total of 543 patients need hospital care with covid-19 in the region.
