Donald Trump tweeted about a conversation with Georgia’s chief of staff that he accuses of “not wanting and not being able to” answer questions about voter fraud.
“Mr. President, what you are saying is simply not true. The truth will come out,” Brad Raffensperger responded.
Soon after, the hour-long phone call was leaked.
The Washington Post published parts of the recording just hours after the president himself mentioned the phone call with Raffensperger on Twitter, calling him incompetent.
“I spoke with Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger yesterday about Fulton County and voice fraud in Georgia. He was unwilling, or unable, to answer questions about ‘under the table’ ballots, counterfeits, ballot sabotage, non-state voters. , dead voters and more. You have no idea! ”
To which Brad Raffensperger replied:
“With all due respect, Mr. President. What you say is simply not true. The truth will come out.”
Call it criminal
During last Saturday’s phone call, Trump alternated between flattering and threatening party comrade and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
– The people of Georgia are angry, the people of our country are angry. And there’s nothing wrong with saying that, you know, you’ve recalculated it, says the president.
“Yes, Mr. President, the only problem is that the information you have is incorrect,” Raffensperger replied.

The conversation with Donald Trump has now leaked.
On another occasion, the president was more direct about the purpose of the conversation.
– All I want is this. I just want you to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state, Trump said.
When Raffensperger continued to deny the president’s request, stating that all of his allegations of vote rigging had been refuted, the tone changed to something akin to a threat.
– This is criminal. You can’t let that happen, you put yourself and Ryan, your attorney, at great risk, Trump is said to have said.
“It will be expensive”
Before Tuesday’s state election, it would be nice if Raffensperger had the president on his side, he explained:
– He has a great election and because of what he did to the president, the people of Georgia know this was a setup. Because of what he has done to the president, many people will not vote, and many Republicans will vote negatively, because they hate what he has done to the president. Okay? They hate it. And they will vote. And it would be respected, highly respected, if this could be resolved before the election.

According to the Washington Post, it was primarily Trump who put the box away during the phone call.
– So tell me, Brad, what are we going to do? We won the elections and it is not fair to take it away like that.
– And it will be very expensive in many ways. And I think it must be said that this must be reconsidered, and it can be reconsidered, but reconsidered with people who want to find answers, not people who do not want to find answers, said the President.
After stating several times that there is no indication that thousands of the dead voted, or that the ballots were destroyed or counted multiple times in favor of the Democrats, Brad Raffensperger closed the conversation.
“Thank you President Trump for your time,” he said.
