Skara Sommarland is recruiting despite the pandemic

Many have been hit hard by the corona pandemic, and theme parks across the country are no exception.

News that public gatherings were first limited to 50 people, a figure that has dropped to just four people today, hit amusement parks hard.

For that reason, several amusement parks have not been open, with Liseberg, among other things, expecting a loss of SEK 500 million last year as a result of not being able to open.

Skara Sommarland had also closed for the 2020 season, but despite that, the amusement park chooses to recruit.

Review: “He has been marginalized”

It is mainly the staff who worked at Skara Sommarland 2019. Now they are offered to return.

Skara Sommarland CEO Janne Nilsson is disappointed with the way politics handled the pandemic issue.

– We may think that we have been neglected a bit. We feel that we have been more or less forbidden to eat, because we have not been allowed to open. And it has taken a long time to come up with a proposal for how we should open in 2021, Janne Nilsson tells SVT.

Among other things, he believes that there has been “ignorance” about how the Public Works Act is applied in Sweden.

AMF support

The fact that the amusement park dares to hire again is partly due to the pension fund AMF, which has invested in the Park & Resorts company, which includes Skara Sommarland and Gröna Lund.

– It is money that can be seen as a loan and gives us peace of mind. Within five years, the money must be repaid. If that is not possible, the AMF pension will become a partner, Janne Nilsson tells SVT.
