VAL MÜSTAIR. The FIS has taken additional measures to ensure that the mouth protection requirement is met at the Tour de Ski and a Swedish embankment has also been fined only for mouth protection larvae.

Swedish national team manager Anders Byström believes that the entire “mouth guard door” has been expanded.

– It will be strange if they go hunting people and take pictures like that, Byström tells Sportbladet.

It was during last night that Expressen reported that the FIS collected images of skiers and officials who did not comply with the oral protection requirements during the Tour de Ski competitions in Val Müstair.

The same newspaper later reported that a Swedish leader had been fined just for this.

– These are cases in which people did not follow the instructions of the competition management. The use of mouth guards is mandatory, even in training areas during competition. These are leaders of the nations Sweden, Russia and France. We hand out fines to nations, not individuals, juror Jussi Prykäri tells Expressen.

“A little difficult to interpret”

The fine is 250 francs, which corresponds to about 2,300 crowns.

The coach of the national team, Anders Byström, later confirms to Sportbladet that it is a Swedish wall.

– We have seen a photo and so on. Several nations have also received it. They (FIS) want to mark it a little closer, says Byström and continues:

– It was a difficult opportunity. The wall in question said that he had just arrived from a ski test and would only change the skis and then go out again … It is complicated. We have seen many who can lower their mask a little and have to change.

“You can’t wash dishes for such things”

Byström understands the importance of everyone wearing the mask and following the rules. But he is skeptical of how FIS has acted to ensure that the rules are followed.

– It will be strange if they are going to hunt people and walk and take pictures like that. Everybody wants it to work and nobody gets sick. Nobody does such a thing to not follow the rules. It is not really a thing. If you have to move on, it will be wrong. Thinking that it should be our own responsibility that everyone does so to protect us from the crown.

Are you afraid that maggot larvae can put you in the dishwasher?

– I do not think it is like that. They can’t go that far. It’s the sport that matters here and then you can’t wash the dishes for such things. One thing with an excess that the Russians had yesterday.

Have you talked more to cyclists about this?

– No, they know what applies. We are full of masks that we can give you. There is access to it.

“Very important”

Speaking of Russians, it was in particular Julia Stupak (second full of joy in Saturday’s mass start) and Natalija Neprjajeva who ended up in the spotlight last night after forgetting the mask in the mixed zone.

– This is nothing new. Everyone knows they will look at this more. That’s right. But it is especially for the drivers when they are nervous before the start and maybe happy after taking the podium. But it is very important that everyone follows the rules, it is about everyone’s safety, says the leader of the Russian national team, Markus Cramer.

Say that Neprjajeva is doing well for example today, will you remind him one more time before mixing?

– Of course. We will see more of it and need to remind you to follow the rules.
