Dan Eliasson went to Las Palmas on a 14-day trip amid the pandemic, which Expressen was the first to reveal.

Now, the CEO of MSB has chosen to comment on the trip:
– I have given up a lot of travel during this pandemic, but I thought this was necessary, says Dan Eliasson to the newspaper.

The Swedish Civil Contingency Agency, MSB, has worked hard with the Swedish Public Health Agency to form opinions and report on the risks of unnecessary travel, crowds and shopping.

Despite this, the Director General himself has chosen to travel abroad when the spread of the infection has reached critical levels and hospital occupancy rates are near breaking point.

So far, MSB has declined to comment on the CEO’s vacation for security reasons.
Now Dan Eliasson himself has chosen to address the questions about vacations abroad. He justifies it by saying that his family lives in Spain.

– My daughter stays here and works, and I wanted to celebrate Christmas with the family.

When asked what he has done in the Canary Islands, he assures that he has dedicated himself to work. He has led daily meetings, both external and internal, and has been fully updated on the situation. However, he adds that he was away for the Christmas holidays.

When did you book the trip?

– When we said we couldn’t celebrate Christmas together, unless it came down. So I booked it about 10-14 days before departure.
Interior Minister Mikael Damberg confirmed Eliasson’s vacation trip on December 30, but then decided not to comment on the moral of a high-ranking representative of the authority who decided to go abroad.
