At least 14 addresses in a residential area were affected by a landslide in Ask in the Gjerdrum municipality, south of Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport, on the night of December 30.
The specially trained Swedish search and rescue force that assisted in the rescue work after the landslide at the Norwegian Ask in Gjerdrum has finished its efforts.
Since New Year’s Day, the 14-person Swedish force has worked together with the Norwegian rescue service in the affected area to find and rescue survivors.
“It has been difficult circumstances and complicated rescue work, but the cooperation with the Norwegian rescue management has worked very well. This kind of effort and cooperation provides many lessons and experiences from which we will benefit greatly in the future,” says Kent. Kockum, director of The Nusar Team of the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service in a press release.
The Nusar team is a special function of the Swedish Civil Protection and Emergency Planning Agency, MSB, and has special powers for search and rescue operations in urban environments.
MSB’s Norwegian counterpart DSB announced on Friday that it no longer needed reinforcements from Sweden.
“Together with various rescue services in Sweden, we have been prepared to be able to send more reinforcements to Norway and we have continued with a high level of preparedness to be able to support our Norwegian colleagues and those affected on short notice should the need arise again.” says Erik Flink, project manager at MSB in the press release.
