Sweden’s vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström believes that all adult Swedes can get vaccinated before the summer. Stock Photography.
– There is no reason to wait. The recommendation takes place on Monday morning and a couple of hours later it is formally approved by the EU Commission, Bergström tells SVT.
He estimates that the first doses can reach Sweden in two weeks. Initially, it is 20,000-30,000 doses per week.
The vaccine that has started to be used in Sweden comes from Pfizer / Biontech. The green light for that vaccine came from the EMA on December 23, and vaccinations began in Sweden on May 27. Sweden now receives between 80,000 and 90,000 doses a week from Pfizer / Biontech.
An approval for the Astra Zeneca vaccine is expected in the EU in February, according to Richard Bergström.
