VAL MÜSTAIR / STOCKHOLM. Halfvarsson Street was last in the sprint quarter.
Readers are disappointed in him.
Now he fights back.
– It’s easy to sit at home and criticize, says Calle Halfvarsson.
The opening of the Tour de Ski ended with a tie in the quarterfinals for Calle Halfvarsson. The Swede had qualified there by a small margin, and well into the fourth he was just 19 seconds behind the winner of the heat, Alexander Bolshunov.
– I felt that it was heavy in the prologue, in fact it was a prologue that normally had not come out. This was really difficult, says Halfvarsson Street.
It’s wrong?
– He just felt heavy right away, he didn’t hang out like that. I do not know why it does not work. Someday you won’t have to screw this up, but now is the time to turn it around and come up with something good.
Many readers who followed the race on Sportbladet live reports were disappointed in Halfvarsson, and that rarely delivers.
– I’m very disappointed in myself, obviously it’s not going well. Easier said than done, and easier to sit home and criticize. Because it is not as easy as everyone thinks.
Johan Häggström was also last in his quarter-finals. Oskar Svensson was eliminated in the semifinals.
The sprint finals are in progress.
