– Communications directors and human resources directors are often women, Patrik Hall, professor of political science at the University of Malmö, told radio.
It is not new that women dominate the public sector, but the proportion of women in senior positions has risen considerably in recent years. Women now make up nearly three-quarters of everyone in a leadership position, according to SKR. Women are also a majority among the highest paid services, such as lawyers, economists and researchers.
The number of managers in the municipalities and regions of the country has increased in total during these years. Between 2008 and 2019, female managers increased by 43 percent, while the number of male managers only increased by nine percent.
– There is no doubt that it is because women dominate in higher education, says Patrik Hall, to Ekot.
