Sofia Helin called in the new year

– Scream the pains, worries and anguish …

Sofia Helin called in the new year of a Skansen plot in Stockholm to a handful of fireworks. Most of the official celebrations had been canceled and in Skansen there was no shaky audience following the performances in front of the stage. But fireworks around the capital still accompanied Sofia Helin’s reading of Lord Alfred Tennyson’s poem “Nyårsklockan”, which has been read at Skansen on New Years since the late 19th century.

A strange year ended in an unusual way, with the corona pandemic as a backdrop.

– Ring the bell …

Sofia Helin has always thought that Lord Tennyson’s famous words sounded great on New Years Eve, but now they have a different tone to her.

– Now I think the poem is in line with unification, in the direction of light and openness, he told TT before the honorable task.

– If it gives strength to think “now we have a little more strength”, it would be fantastic, he continued.
