“On the way away twice”
Mona tells Aftonbladet that at the end of April she was taken by ambulance to Örebro hospital and hooked up to another machine, an ecmo machine that works like an artificial lung. That was the last hope and it worked.
But during her illness, Mona also suffered from intestinal warts, various internal bleeding, and had to undergo major surgery. It wasn’t until August 31 that she was discharged from the hospital.
– I went out twice because I was very ill. Later I met the surgeon who operated on me and he told me that he did not think he would succeed. I have struggled and still do. This is a miserable virus.
How does it feel to meet Mikael Sandström again?
– Even though he put me to sleep and then I left, I still have a positive memory of that, so it feels exciting. He wanted to meet me and I think it feels so positive that I’m sitting here. Only that.
