Omar Elabdellaoui has been transferred to the hospital.

This after a fireworks display exploded in his hand.

According to information, the eye has been seriously injured.

New Year’s Eve has ended in hospital for Omar Elabdellaoui. Galatasaraybacken would celebrate at home and light a fireworks display. But it exploded in his hand.

Elabdellaoui, vice captain of the Norwegian national team, was taken directly to a hospital in Turkey. According to Turkish reports, one eye has been seriously injured.

The Norwegian must have had surgery and there are concerns about his vision. According to some reports, he has suffered a visual impairment. It is not clear how serious it is.

Elabdellaoui’s club, Galatasaray, is said to have sent their doctors to hospital. The club’s vice president, Abdurrahim Albayrak, also visits Elabdellaoui in hospital.

Elabdellaoui, 29, has made 49 international appearances for Norway and made his debut against Sweden in an international training session in August 2013.
