A woman in her 75s was killed in connection with a snowmobile accident in Skråckarberget, in the far north of Värmland.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon when two passengers on a scooter collided with a tree. The other person was slightly injured. Both were taken by ambulance to Torsby Hospital, just over 50 miles to the south.

– It was a company of four foreign tourists and an instructor who conducted a guided tour with rental scooters. There were two tourists on each scooter, and one of them drove for unknown reasons off the road and hit a tree, says police spokesman Lars Hedelin.

The four tourists were all German citizens.

The fact that the accident occurred on the ground in the Värmland forests means that it took a long time to get people to hospital.

– We were there, we held witness interviews and took the scooter for a technical examination, says Lars Hedelin.

According to the police, an investigation will take place next week. The criminal classification of the case is unclear.
