Continued silence from Prime Minister Löfven

The government has received massive criticism for the actions of the city council this Christmas, but other high-level politicians have achieved nothing.

Ulf Kristersson says that he himself has gone out and supported the business community in their Strängnäs.

– You probably find yourself in a criticism when you yourself do not seem to live as they teach you, says the leader Moderate on TV4.

“Don’t invent evasions that would do your business well,” Stefan Löfven told a press conference on December 16.

Now this is what many believe Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and Justice Minister Morgan Johansson did during their visits to the Christmas shop, or Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson when she went to Sälen.

Johanna Kronkvist, a Covidac emergency room nurse at Gothenburg’s Östra Hospital, calls the city council’s actions hypocritical. He wonders why the Swedish population should follow the advice if those who decide do not.

– As a health care worker, I haven’t been in business since the pandemic started, except at the grocery store. Ministers have at least the same responsibility for health care as we do, Johanna Kronkvist, a covidac emergency room nurse at Östra Hospital in Gothenburg, told Aftonbladet.

Kristersson: “He may probably be in a critical situation”

On the other hand, opposition politicians have not raged heavily against the government. Ulf Kristersson, leader of the party of the moderates, tells TV4’s “Nyhetsmorgon” that he has acted restrictively on Christmas and done less of everything.

– But I have also been shopping, mainly locally at home in Strängnäs, mainly online. It is also important to keep the local shops alive at home in Strängnäs I think.

Kristersson says he does not intend to “moralize the watch-related issues of individual city councils or prime ministers.”

– On the other hand, it is the case that the higher the tone you have towards others, and in practice you say “do nothing”, or moralize about other party leaders who have gone to a dinner – then probably you have to find yourself in some criticism when you yourself seem not to be alive as one learns.

Steffo Törnqvist from Nyhetsmorgon asks if Ulf Kristersson is low because he himself may have been trapped in the picture.

– No, I have followed the recommendations that exist, to avoid congestion. Almost all Swedes have. That doesn’t mean stopping living, says Ulf Kristersson on TV4.

Löfven’s silence: “He will return”

Aftonbladet has been trying for two days to get an interview with Stefan Löfven.

So far, his visit to the Christmas market has only been greeted by written comments from the prime minister’s press secretary, who has also not responded to Aftonbladet’s phone calls.

On Wednesday, an interview “was not possible,” announced press secretary Mikael Lindström via text message.

On Thursday, Aftonbladet asked if it was at least possible to get a written comment from the Prime Minister, on the fact that many Swedes wonder why they should stay home if the country’s top representatives don’t.

“I’ll be back in that case,” writes press secretary Maria Soläng in a text message.
