When Sebastian Lamberth was about to lay his puppy to rest in the Rörsjöparken kennel, he came across three small scones with glass: “I have a hard time understanding what you get from doing things like this,” he says.
Police are now asking the public for clues.
Sebastian Lamberth found baked scones with broken glass in the Rörsjöparken kennel.
Sebastian Lamberth visited the kennel Tuesday night with his puppy. There was a small bun by the door and when she picked it up she noticed that it was full of ice chips.
He found two more buns in the kennel: one was hidden in a pile of leaves and the other under a tunnel. He had visited the kennel the day before and then the buns weren’t there.
– Someone baked them with flour and water, put them in pieces of glass and put them in the oven. They had no holes, I had to split them to access the glass, so it was done with the intention of harming the dogs, he says, continuing:
– I have a hard time understanding what you get from doing things like this. Where do you start? You get mad.
He called the police, who asked him to remove the buns and promised to send a patrol to investigate.
– Obviously, there are people who, for unclear reasons, want to harm both children and animals, said Nils Norling in the Malmö police at the time.
In recent days, the Police have received reports of pieces of meat and bread that are prepared with dangerous objects, such as glass, and that are suspected of being intended for dogs. Among other things, they have been found in the Rörsjöparken kennel. Therefore, the police are asking the public for clues: they are asked to call 114 14 if they know anything.
If the dog has not received the “treat” itself, the crime is generally classified as attempted vandalism. If the dog has eaten the candy, the title is usually vandalism or possible animal cruelty. But finding the culprits is not entirely easy, as it is difficult to get traces.
– Often there isn’t much to go on, but sometimes there can be eyewitness information, if you’ve seen someone who dumped it, says Sara Andersson, spokeswoman for the police command center.
Sebastian Lamberth understands that it is difficult for the police to find those responsible, but he wonders if it would have helped with better lighting in the kennels.
– Many kennels are very dark. And since you cleaned them more often, there are often leaves and things that you can hide things in.
Until then, you are very careful when resting your dog.
– You have to go look at the ground all the time, especially if you have a puppy. But if you have an older dog, you might not think about it, he says.
