The musician, singer and songwriter Gösta Linderholm died this Tuesday as a result of a stroke. Something that Ms. Lena Linderholm confirms for Expressen.
– He had to fall asleep in my arms today so it felt good in any case.
Lena Linderholm says that Gösta Linderholm has been ill for a while and, among other things, has had some heart problems.
– Like all old men, those forty who lived hard, he says and continues:
– But he worked until the last. He was also in the hospital in May and then even gave a concert for the staff and patients.
The couple met in 1973 and have been together ever since. They have worked a lot together, written books, and built family and life in Strängnäs. Together they have two children.
The couple also lived in French Provence and they have also run a shop and gallery on Stallarholmen together.
– He was the great love of my life, we, Gösta and I have worked a lot together. She enjoyed life very much, says Lena Linderholm.
Breakthrough in the 70s
Gösta Linderholm was born in 1941 in Stockholm. In 1958, Gösta Linderholm began playing clarinet in the dixie band “Jazz Doctors” and later formed the song duo “Två blå”.
In the 1970s, he was one of the members of the jazz orchestra “Swedish jazz band” who broke through with the song “Britta’s restaurant”.
Linderholm began his solo career in 1973 with the album “In kommer Gösta”. Some of his most popular songs are “Nightingale Island”, “Angels and Accordion”, “When the morning rawns” and in 1978 he had a great success with the song “Roll in a ball and let it roll”.
Gösta Linderholm has also participated in the composition of the music for the film version of “Rasmus på luffen” from 1981. Among other things, he is behind songs like “Luffarvisan” and “Mannevisan”. He also played the character “Seven-Attan” in the movie.
He has also worked with Fred Åkerström and Cornelis Vreeswijk, among others.
In December last year, Gösta Linderholm and Robert Wells held an acclaimed concert at Engelen in Stockholm.
Gösta Linderholm turned 79 years old.
