According to statistics from the Swedish Crime Prevention Council (Brå), the cases in which a woman has been abused by an acquaintance, which includes her partner, friend or colleague, have increased throughout the year.
The increase in November was 11 percent compared to the same period this year and during the summer the increase was nine percent. But even before the pandemic, in January and February, the increase was at those levels. Therefore, according to Brå, it may be too early to say that the increase is due to the pandemic.
– The results do not clearly indicate any consequences of the pandemic.
