Emilia Lundberg was found murdered in a watercourse outside Tollarp a year ago.
A 21-year-old childhood friend was found guilty of the murder, but while the forensic psychiatric examination is underway, the district court has been unable to convict the man.
The investigation now establishes that the 21-year-old did not suffer from a serious mental disorder and can now be sentenced to prison.
The statement from the National Board of Forensic Medicine that arrived on Monday means the 21-year-old childhood friend will likely receive a prison sentence in the event of a conviction.
The Kristianstad District Court has already held that the man is held guilty of the murder of Emilia Lundberg.
But at trial, the district court ruled that the 21-year-old would undergo a forensic psychiatric examination before the verdict against him fell.
Found in streams
On December 3, 2019, police found the body of Emilia Lundberg, 20, in Vramsån, Tollarp. She had been missing for about a month.
When they found her, she had several wounds on her neck, head and body. The forensic examination established that she had been murdered.
Soon after, they arrest one of Emilia’s childhood friends. The friend is a 21-year-old young man who several witnesses have been able to link to the scene of the crime on the same day that Emilia disappeared.

Lifetime occupations
The prosecutor has demanded that the man be sentenced to life imprisonment, but the district court has yet to rule on him pending the forensic psychiatric examination.
A survey that was completed today.
In it, the chief physician writes that the 21-year-old did not suffer from a serious mental disorder either at the time of the crime or at the time of the examination.
Therefore, the 21-year-old will not be handed over to forensic psychiatry and, therefore, may be sentenced to prison.
