Nurse Angelica: “Everyone has a responsibility, even the Minister”

Angelica works in the Skåne region with seriously ill patients. Last Sunday, she and two colleagues went to the Nova shopping center in Lund to remind people that everyone has a responsibility to prevent the spread of infection. Same shopping center as Morgan Johansson, Minister of Justice and Migration (S), visited the second day to buy a late Christmas gift.

Dressed in work clothes, visors and mouth guards, they held banners with the message “Health fights when you shop” and “Is the Christmas present worth the health of other people?”, Something that the Kvällposten newspaper Be the first to report.

“I don’t want to point out a scapegoat”

Visitors turned and left the mall when they saw the nurses in the parking lot, but many more walked past them and went shopping.

– It’s a shame. I pass Nova Lund on my way to work. Despite the call from the Swedish Public Health Agency, the number of visitors does not seem to decrease, sadly. I think people think “I’m going to do this a little bit faster” and I really think they should keep their distance. But when everyone thinks that way, many visitors quickly run the risk of spreading the infection.

What do you think of a minister who chooses to buy at the sale?

– Of course it’s not good. Now I do not want to point to this minister, we would like to look for scapegoats because it is easier than dealing with your own bad conscience. Instead, I think we should ask ourselves, “What do I do to reduce the spread of the infection?”

“The best gift we can give to others”

Angélica believes that those who do not work in health care and do not see patients in the risk group have a more difficult time motivating themselves to follow the restrictions. He works with seriously ill people who have already been isolated for a long time.

– It is terrible to have to tell them that they must remain isolated. But the best gift we can give to others right now is to stay home.
