Lisa Nilsson’s mother fell ill with Alzheimer’s.

When he later moved into a house for people with dementia, it broke for the artist, in the middle of a concert.

– Suddenly I stood in front of 1,200 people and cried for what I could barely breathe, he says in the program.

– I was standing on stage in a crowded concert hall when the day came. It was the 25th anniversary of “The Sky Around the Corner,” says Lisa Nilsson on the show.

I’d sing “Say it again”

– He sang and focused. Pushed like always I managed so well. But then the pianist and I would play my song “Say it again” by hand, he says.

She describes the song as “intimate and naked”.

– No matter how much I struggled to overcome my private feelings, it broke. And suddenly I stood in front of 1,200 people and I cried, I could hardly breathe.

Lisa Nilsson explained to the audience what had happened.

– That my mother sick with dementia, not an unsuspecting one, had crossed the threshold into the irreversible. And that right now, for the first time in my professional life, I could not become a professional.
