Victor Nilsson Lindelöf had to start as a right back at the summit of Manchester United’s second day.
But his “Boxing Day” ended after just over an hour, when back problems returned and he was forced to break up the match.
– We may have to do something now, says manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Viasat’s broadcast after 2-2 away at Leicester.
When a strong Manchester United starting eleven came to the public before the road encounter with Leicester, it was a detail that made most people think.
“Who will play right back?”
The answer? It turned out to be Victor Nilsson Lindelöf who had to step up to fullback, something he hasn’t done since a 4-0 loss to Everton in April 2019.
This time it was much better, at least for a little over an hour.
When the clock had just ticked off 65 minutes, Lindelöf sat down on the grass and made a bad face.

“We may have to do something”
Axel Tuanzebe prepared himself on the band and shortly afterwards also had to jump, while Lindelöf slowly exited the field together with the medical staff, everything but unhindered.
After the game, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed it was back problems. Something that Lindelöf also struggled with earlier in the season, at the same time, however, that he was paired frequently for United during the fall.
– We may have to do something now. We’ll see what it is, says the Norwegian in the Viasat broadcast.
– A longer break may be necessary (for Lindelöf). The long-term goal should be to improve. It is not fair for him to go out to play matches without being able to feel fully playable, says Viasat expert Martin Åslund in the study after the match.
Vardy saved points from Leicester
As if the haunting images of Victor Nilsson Lindelöf (before a period with a tight match schedule) weren’t enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United, there was no victory either; It might look promising when Bruno Fernandes made it 1-2 for guests in the 79th minute.
When Jamie Vardy found space in Manchester’s penalty area in the 85th minute, and also landed a pass, the 2-2 was a done deal (although on paper it was scored as an own goal by substitute VNL Tuanzebe at the end ).
– We have a point that we really deserved, says Vardy in the Viasat broadcast.
