Pfizer’s vaccine on its way to Sweden from Belgium

Sweden’s first vaccine allocation consists of 9,750 doses, manufactured by Pfizer in Belgium.

The vaccine was shipped by truck on Christmas Eve.

– It is a secret where they are right now on the roads. Only Pfizer knows. They have GPS monitoring and are monitored. There are special protection routines for valuable transports, so there are guards, Sweden’s vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström tells DN.

Vaccination starts on Sunday

Once placed in the secret central warehouse, the vaccine is repackaged, so that vaccination can begin on Sunday.

Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne each receive 425 doses, the other regions 200 doses each. Half the plot is saved because each vaccinated person must receive two doses.

During the last week of the year, another 80,000 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine will arrive in Sweden, and at that rate, deliveries will continue thereafter. A vaccine from the Moderna pharmaceutical company is expected to follow Pfizers.
