A hotel in Gothenburg sees no problem in attracting customers to be able to party after the alcohol stop by offering them room service. – We do what we can to survive, says the manager of the bar to Göteborgs-Posten.
The hotel bar in Gothenburg realized that it was possible to circumvent the alcohol ban by hosting after parties in hotel rooms. Stock Photography.
– We follow the rules that exist. You rent the room, if you choose to invite your friends, it depends on the guests. Those who do not sleep go home no later than 01. If we can rent a room, it is worth its weight in gold to us, says the CEO of the hotel to Göteborgs-Posten and refers to the financial problems of the hotel industry.
The hotel began marketing after-parties in late November after the government introduced a 10 p.m. alcohol ban in pubs and bars, which was later changed at 8 p.m.
Thomas Wahlberg, infection control doctor at Västra Götaland, does not appreciate the initiative:
– There are always opportunities to turn things around and find loopholes. But one should think about why the rules have been introduced, to reduce the risk of infecting each other.
The newspaper asks the bar manager if the offers are in line with the spirit of the law.
– Is it morally correct? So, is it morally correct to downgrade an entire business like all the rules do to us?
– I only know that we do what we can to survive, replies the manager of the bar.
This Christmas the hotel is closed. Marketing “probably not” will resume.
