According to local news channel WTVF, three were injured and taken to hospital. No one should have life-threatening injuries.
The local bomb squad and various rescue service units are on the scene, Fox reports.
“It was an incident involving an explosion. It is an ongoing event. Nashville police and rescue services are on the scene. There are currently no further details.”writes the rescue service.
Nashville Police write on your twitter that it was a car that exploded. The explosion is believed to have been a planned act, reports the AP news agency.
The blast shook the ground in much of the city, according to eyewitness reports.
At 7:30 a.m. local time, firefighters battled the scene and checked an adjacent building for people, reports the local Tennessean newspaper.
A video uploaded to Twitter by journalist Tony Atkins shows the devastation on the street where the explosion occurred.
The incident took place at 0630 hours on Friday morning, local time.
