An arms collector in Laholm municipality has been charged with a weapons offense, writes Hallandsposten.
Police found the weapons, a large number of shotguns, shotguns, revolvers and automatic weapons, as well as weapon parts, scattered around the man’s house, some completely open. It is said that 17 of them lacked a license.
– Some of them are sharp firearms for which you are not licensed. Some are weapons that have become unusable when plugged in. They are also counted as firearms in the sense of the law for which you must have a license, prosecutor Aron Willhammar tells the newspaper.
The man, who is in his 80s, denies the crime, but admits he has neglected custody.
Police were alerted to the weapons after the man’s son in 2017 raised the alarm that the man was unwell. When an ambulance arrived at the house, the man refused to follow him and a situation of great threat arose. Later, the police confiscated all the weapons and around 1,400 sharpened cartridges in the house.
Earlier this year, the Police Authority revoked all of the man’s permits to possess weapons. The trial against the man will begin in January.
