The Swedish Public Health Agency has produced a new report in which they have simulated how the spread of the coronavirus can be seen until the last February of next year. The new scenarios developed for the country’s regions are based on the cases reported during the period from August 24 to December 11.

In the case of Jönköping County, the peak of the spread of the infection should have been reached in early December.

Uncertainty about the stage

At the region’s news conference on Monday, infection control physician Malin Bengnér said the spread of the infection in the county appears to be at a plateau and has been roughly at the same level in recent weeks. During this period, between 70 and 85 covid patients per day have been treated in county hospitals.

According to them, the forecast of the Public Health Agency is based on that the contacts between people remain at a limited level throughout the period. At the same time, the authority writes that there is great uncertainty about continued development as it is difficult in mid-December to determine whether cases are increasing, decreasing or whether the regions are on a plateau.
