Norrbotten goes against the grain: the number of infected is decreasing

On Wednesday, the Norrbotten region reported that four other people had died from covid-19. They are all between 78 and 87 years old, but Nystedt is currently unable to say whether they lived in special accommodation or not.

– We have not had time for an interview about where they were or lived.

Norrbotten against the current

Infection control doctor Anders Nystedt believes that the people of Norrbotten have been good at maintaining the restrictions recently and thus reduced the spread of the infection after the November peak.

– When compared to other regions like Skåne and Gävleborg, they have infection rates three times higher than Norrbotten. The people of Norrbotten have gone against the grain and the number of infected people has decreased. They have coped well with the restrictions.

Still urges everyone to keep their distance

Despite this, Nystedt believes that distances and restrictions still need to be thought about.

– It is good to have fewer infected people, but you should not say hello. There are 25 in hospitals with covid-19 and the number of infections remains high. It is still important to stay six feet away so that you or someone else does not infect it.

Nervous before the Christmas sales

Anders Nystedt, an infection control doctor in the Norrbotten region, is still worried about the holidays and the Christmas sales.

– You will meet people and buy sales, and if you do not stay two meters away, the number of infections can increase again.
