Cole Caufield has presented himself as one of the big stars before the JVM.

In the training match against Finland he put on a show and scored two spectacular goals.

The United States were clearly the best team of the match and won 3-2.

The two junior crowns’ training matches prior to the JVM against Canada and Switzerland were canceled.

Last night, however, the first two training games were played before the championship at Canadian Edmonton in the province of Alberta.

The United States beat Finland 3-2, but shooting statistics 45-16 show that the Americans were far superior in terms of play. They looked like serious gold candidates.

Two quick goals

Cole Caufield scored 2-1 and 3-1 in 35 seconds, two beautiful surprising goals.

The first was a well-placed direct shot. The other was a setback on the crossbar after rounding the goal.

The 19-year-old right forward hails from Wisconsin and was selected by the Montreal Canadiens as 15th overall in 2019.

Meet in new year

In tonight’s second practice match in Edmonton, Switzerland beat Austria 3-2.

JVM kicks off on Christmas Day and Juniorkronorna plays his first match against the Czech Republic at 8:00 PM Swedish time on the second Christmas Day.

The United States also plays in Group B and the Junior Crowns meet them on New Year’s Eve at 7.30 pm Swedish time.
