Sweden receives 9,750 doses in an initial delivery, which will be distributed to all regions of the country
– As deliveries increase, more and more people will be vaccinated. The joint goal of the Swedish government and municipalities and regions is that all people over 18 years of age and all people under 18 who are in a risk group should have received a vaccine during the first half of 2021, says the Minister of Social Affairs. Lena Hallengren.
– The regions are prepared to be able to start the vaccination against covid-19 quickly and safely for the patient. Sweden must shoulder its responsibility to vaccinate with a high degree of coverage and we have an ambitious and common goal, he says Marie Morell, president of the SKR health delegation.
Over the next week (December 28 to January 3), a major first delivery of approximately 80,000 doses is expected. Thereafter, Pfizer / BioNTech deliveries in roughly the same size class are expected to arrive every week during January. In early January, Moderna’s vaccine is also expected to be approved for use.
It is important that vaccination against COVID-19 is carried out as needed. Even as vaccinations start to rise, people living in nursing homes and people with home care, as well as staff working near these groups, will be vaccinated first.
