Donald Trump pardons George Papadopoulos

In just over a month, Joe Biden will be sworn in as President of the United States. But until then, it is Trump who rules.

The White House now announces that the president will pardon 20 people, including former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos, who in 2017 admitted that he lied in Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s influence in the 2016 presidential election, the so-called investigation of Russia.

Another pardoned was lawyer Alex van der Zwaan, who also pleaded guilty to a crime in the investigation.

The White House said in a statement late Tuesday that Mueller’s trial “found no evidence” that he was cooperating with Russia to try to influence the 2016 presidential election, according to the New York Times.

Newspaper sources say Trump plans to pardon more people who have been involved in the Russia investigation.

Several private soldiers are released

The list of people pardoned also includes four common soldiers, linked to the security company Blackwater, all of whom were convicted of killing civilians in Iraq.

One of them is Nicholas Slatten, who was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder of 17 Iraqi civilians in Baghdad in 2017.

Another person who is pardoned is former Congressman Duncan Hunter, who admitted that he toyed with campaign contributions in 2019.
