On Friday, the Juniorkronorna hotel quarantine in Canada was extended after two leaders tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Edmonton.
The squad, which had already had a disorderly load with several crown falls – previously a total of eight people, including the captain of the national team Tomas Montén – had already been isolated for four days. The quarantine was extended until Monday, provided that Sunday’s test came back negative.
Now the squad is released.
– I can confirm that. We have not received any new cases of covid, says the national team doctor Ryan Allenby to DN.
– We still have to be very careful, we must continue to follow the strict rules. But it is very cute and we are very happy to have company here, we have longed for it.
Are you more careful now considering the load you’ve had?
– Not even more care, but everyone on our team is very important, so we need to make sure we don’t just get more corona cases.
The two leaders those who have been confirmed infected at the Edmonton scene are still under quarantine under Canadian rules. Additionally, the team’s team manager, Jonas Fransson, was previously sent home after violating quarantine rules.
However, players and leaders who tested positive for covid-19 during the period from September 13 to November 29 were able to leave the hotel rooms as early as Friday. For Sweden, it was about seven players, a video coach and Dr. Alllenby.
On Monday afternoon (local time) the whole team trains on ice, but Sweden’s training matches against Canada and Switzerland, which should have been played this week, were canceled according to the training match schedule published by the Federation Hockey International on Sunday.
The junior crowns start the JVM on the second day of Christmas, against the Czech Republic.
