Oskarshamn lost a 2-0 lead to a 4-2 deficit against Luleå in less than three minutes on Saturday, marking the twelfth loss in a row for the struggling team that has not won since 10 November.

Monday night was Oskarshamn’s thirteenth time at home against Växjö and this time they also took a 2-0 lead.

After a goalless first period, the team took the lead early in the second after a cannon shot from Markus Modigs and then Nick Olesen led 2-0.

– I think it’s pretty good. We synched up well, adjusted, and set the record high up on the track. We also have good boxplay, says Markus Modigs on C More before last period.

Växjö caught up with Oskarshamn

As you know, Markus Modig’s team is in a strong trend.

– I think it is very strong of us to go out and rub as we did, says Modigs.

But it would be another loss for Oskarshamn in the final period.

Marcus Sylvegård got the reduction after a counterattack and when Jack Drury scored his fifth goal of the season with just over seven minutes to go, Växjö was back.

It was extra time where Viktor Fasth saved Växjö a couple of times and the match went to the penalty shootout where the visiting team put all their penalties and won.

– Incredibly bitter, damn the bitter. We played the best game in an incredibly long time and stayed calm and friendly in our game, says coach Martin Filander at C More.

“I can’t go around celebrating Christmas”

Oskarshamn had to claim his thirteenth consecutive loss.

– We have tried to analyze this and work with ourselves. It’s a big drop forward, but still not enough for points, says Filander.

Marcus Sylvegård scored one of the penalties and was happier after the match.

– Now, in hindsight, it feels incredibly good considering how the situation was after two terms, says Sylvegård in C More.

– We cannot turn around and celebrate Christmas on ice like we did on others. Everyone was a little pissed off before the third so we grabbed it.
