A brain drop from Serge Aurier and an own goal from Toby Alderweireld.

Tottenham’s defense had a difficult day at the summit against Leicester.

– It is a terrible defensive game, says Bojan Djordjic in Viasat.

Tottenham and Leicester had a chance to move up as seconds behind Liverpool after today’s summit.

It was the guests who took the step, with good help from the Spurs defensive line.

Serge Aurier was more generous with the absolute final minutes of the first half when he landed a tough late tackle on Wesley Fofana’s back as he came out of the penalty area.

Following a VAR review, a sentence administered by Jamie Vardy was imposed.

– It’s a lousy defensive game, you’re not being careful with Aurier. That’s Aurier in a nutshell, says Bojan Djordjic.

Vardy is also second

James Maddison then extended to 2-0 early in the second half, everyone thought. But an extremely small offside meant that the VAR worked for Tottenham this time.

The 2-0 came in the 59th minute when Jamie Vardy headed a ball into the far post through Toby Alderwiereld.

The Spurs created a lot, but Kasper Schmeichel played very well in the away cage and, among other things, delivered a brilliant save of reflexes on Heung-min Son’s shot from close range.

– We have a game plan that we established perfectly. We took three well-deserved points, Jamie Vardy tells Sky Sports.

The victory lifts Leicester by 27 points, four behind Liverpool. For Tottenham, this was the end of a really heavy seven-day period in which José Mourinho’s men only took one of nine possible points.
