News came Sunday night that Sweden would stop all travel from Britain.
A measure supported by the Swedish Public Health Agency.
“It is a reasonable precaution in the situation that has arisen,” writes the authority on its website.
The alarm about the new strain of the virus in the UK, which may be up to 70 percent more contagious than the original, has caused concern in Europe in a short time.
People from the UK are now prevented from traveling to Sweden.
– We are preparing a decision on a travel ban from the UK. It should be able to take effect as soon as possible, Interior Minister Mikael Damberg tells SVT News.
The interior minister has not said when the entry ban will take effect. Tomorrow, the government will make a formal decision.
FHM: New rules expected tomorrow
Late on Sunday night, the Swedish Public Health Agency writes on its website that they consider stopping the flight to be a “reasonable measure”.
“On Monday, December 21, the authority will supplement the government’s decision with rules that will apply to those who, after all, will arrive from the UK in the near future (i.e. Swedish citizens who cannot be denied the entrance) and those who have already arrived in Sweden in recent times, ”he says.
“Not excluded with the new variant in Sweden”
Despite reports of 70% more infectivity, the authority believes it is too early to say whether the new variant of the virus is actually more contagious and that further testing is underway in the UK.
“The new variant already exists in several EU countries and it is not entirely impossible that it already exists in Sweden, but we have not yet been able to confirm it,” they write.
SAS: Plan the lands as planned
The Foreign Ministry has no further information on the flight’s stopover.
– We do not know what the entry ban will look like and therefore cannot provide any information about it. At present, the Foreign Office has no travel advice on whether to travel to the UK, says Sara Brynedal, a press release for the Foreign Office.
Camilla Runberg, SAS press release, says they have a plane landing in Arlanda tonight.
– It will land as planned. We always follow the prevailing travel restrictions, this will not be determined until tomorrow and then we will make any changes to the traffic schedule. Can’t answer what it will look like now, he says.
According to SAS, passengers from London will not be screened when they arrive in Sweden.

Instantly convened EU meeting
On Sunday, several countries, including Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium, stopped all flights to and from the UK. Ireland closes flights and ferries.
Overnight, EU countries have been summoned to a meeting in a flash to discuss whether joint EU action is required due to the new variant of the virus.

Norwegian characteristic: request negative test
At the same time, there will be information from Norway that a negative corona test will be requested from anyone traveling from the UK.
Additionally, arriving travelers are encouraged to retest for COVID-19 and self-quarantine.
The Norwegian Health Directorate also writes on its website that they are considering new measures to prevent the new variant of the virus from spreading in Norway.
Found since September
State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell writes in an email to Aftonbladet that the new variant of the virus has been in the UK since September and has become more common in recent weeks.
The variant is found in areas where the spread of the infection is increasing and British authorities are investigating the connection between the properties of the virus and the spread of the infection.
“What is known today is that Covid-19 disease is no different if you are infected with VUI202012 / 01 than if you are infected with other variants of SARS-CoV-2,” writes Tegnell.
Outside of the UK, nine cases have been detected in Denmark and some cases in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Australia and South Africa.
