He said no four times.

But when the Let’s Dance question came for the fifth time, Anders Svensson said yes. In the podcast “Nemo Meets a Friend”, he tells why.

– The deciding factor was money, he clearly says.

When the player for Sweden’s most national team, Anders Svensson, 44, agreed to be a part of this spring’s Let’s Dance, it was clear to him that he was not entirely comfortable.

– It’s something I never did. I haven’t danced since high school and then I was a printer. He feels challenged to say the least, he said on TV4’s After Five.

On the Nemo Hedén podcast “Nemo meets a friend”, he says it was the fifth time the production was valid. And that it was not directly about the love of dance when he thanked me.

– The deciding factor was money, of course. Otherwise, I would never have said yes. I ended up in a situation with my company where I invested a lot of money in a soccer concept from the USA (Toca Soccer Training Center) here in Sweden. I invested everything in my company and a little more and it is difficult to start a new one, so I needed to raise money for the company, says Anders Svensson.

I would rather take the step into the world of dance than take away the money he saved on football.

“Believe in it”

– It is clear that I have my football money but I try to distinguish between private and corporate assets, he says and continues:

– I still strongly believe in it, but it has taken longer than I expected to bring the concept to Sweden. It takes time to work. So I needed money to be able to continue injecting money into this concept because I am convinced that it can develop Swedish football and make children and young people move more, he says.

Once at Let’s Dance, Anders Svensson went all the way until there were only three participants left.

– I am completely satisfied, and being able to offer two dances like I did today also means that you can fall with the flag on top, he said after being voted on.

The podcast will be released on Monday, listen in full here.
