Chris O’Neill is not in the year with the royal family at SVT. Here is the explanation why.
Chris O’Neill and the show The Year with the Royal Family have not proven to be a particularly viable combination.
Before this year’s edition, of course, we were hoping to see Chris at the parties where SVT visited Princess Madeleine in Florida. But Madeleine appears alone on the show, again without her husband by her side.
– We have slightly stronger restrictions here in Florida than at home in Sweden. It has been quite difficult, I must say, all spring I had to be locked up for five months, and if someone had told me that the children would have to stay inside for five months, they would hardly be allowed out, we will keep them at home. and home schooling eight to three a day… Yeah, I don’t know if I’d make myself laugh or cry, Madeleine says on the show.
That is why Chris O’Neill is not in the year with the royal family.
But then why is Chris not in the year with the royal family? Sara Bull, the producer, gives the following answer.
– It just wasn’t relevant this year, she says.
Can you say more about why it was not relevant?
No.
In the past, Chris simply refused to join the show.
– The reason for this is that there have been no interview opportunities when Chris has been available, court information manager Margareta Thorgren told Expressen.
– Chris is married to Princess Madeleine, but otherwise wants to be as private as possible. In that sense, he does not want to be an official.
This is what Margareta says when Svensk Dam asks the question this year.
– They haven’t been to Sweden because of the crown. There have been no official assignments. Princess Madeleine joins in to talk about childhood, says Margareta.
Chris’s own explanation
Chris has shown very clearly that he wants to stand on his own two feet. He rejected the title of prince and prefers to continue being considered something else: a businessman and a loving father. As he said himself in an interview with King magazine.
– I wasn’t born into any royal family. I am Christopher O’Neill, my father was Paul O’Neill. He was a family man who had his own identity, he worked hard and was successful. I thought it was important to have the same relationship with him that I always had in the first place, Chris said then.
