The government is about to make a decision to impose a travel ban from the UK following the discovery of a new strain of the coronavirus in the country.
Interior Minister Mikael Damberg (S) tells SVT Nyheter that a formal decision will be made tomorrow.
“We are preparing one decision to ban entry from the UK. It should be able to take effect as soon as possible, “Damberg tells SVT.
The decision is made in light of the discovery of a new strain of the coronavirus in the country. New cases of the VUI 202012/01 virus strain are confirmed by the European Infection Control Agency ECDC, the Public Health Agency (FHM) informs TT.
SAS Sweden Press Manager Freja Annamatz says the airline has yet to make a decision on whether flights from the UK will be canceled.
“We have a flight tonight that lands from the UK, and then we’ll see how it progresses and evaluate it. But what we do is comply with the travel restrictions that are coming, and that in the long run means that we will probably have to cancel trips.” says Annamatz.
