Anel Ahmedhodzic’s phenomenal breakthrough at Malmö FF 2020 has hardly escaped anyone. The midfielder returned from a loan at Danish Hobro, debuted in the starting eleven before Europa League games against Wolfsburg in February and then never pitched.

When the 2020 season was summed up, Anel Ahmedhodzic had not only become the Swedish champion, but was also praised by Dplay and the Swedish sports journalism body as the defender of the year and the young player of the year at the Allsvenskan.

In an interview with Kvällposten after the last game of the season against Östersund, Ahmedhodzic summed up his year as follows:

– I said I want to dominate the Allsvenskan and show who I am. I think I have now. I feel like I’m developing a lot as a player and Jon has shown great confidence playing with me. I think I paid him off by giving him good performances and winning the Swedish Championship gold. I think it has been a very good season, the midfielder said then.

Atalanta next club address?

Now the midfielder may be lost for Malmö FF. According to information from Italy, which Kvällsposten has received confirmation, Serie A Atalanta is set to make an initial offer of 7 million euros, about 70 million SEK, for Ahmedhodzic, who earlier this fall also made his debut with the Bosnian national team.

There have also been reports of interest in Ahmedhodzic from Milan, Chelsea, PSV and a couple of other clubs in the past.

Kvällposten has applied for the position of MFF Sporting Director Daniel Andersson.
