HOCHFILZEN / STOCKHOLM. Martin Ponsiluoma’s success continues.

In the mass start, he was second after a new suspense ending, his best placement in his career.

– It was just to fight everything you had. I am fantastically satisfied and happy.

At the start of Saturday’s hunt, Martin Ponsiluoma hit four zeroes at the firing range for the first time and finished fifth.

And I would continue the weekend in Hochfilzen doing things for the first time.

In today’s massive outing, it was certainly a boom, but for the first time it was a runner-up in the World Cup.

– Totally impressive. These are the top 30 at the start today and I am the second! How fun, says Ponsiluoma.

Came to the head

The Swede came out with a slight lead after a complete shot in the last tier and fought for victory with Germany’s Arnd Peiffer on the sprint lap where Ponsiuoma drove hard.

– I thought it was just to run all the way around and not let people catch up. I didn’t want it to be like yesterday when you just came off the podium. I was just fighting everything you had.

Ponsiluoma was first to last, but just before the revolt, the German went ahead and took the victory a second before.

“So fucking dumb on the legs”

– I wanted to get into the riot first and then I took the wrong turn. I was so fucking stupid on my legs that I couldn’t stand up. He got inside and then I was out of luck when I got into the riot. But I did what I could, says Ponsiluoma.

Arnd Peiffer says it was not entirely easy to hold on to the Swede, but he was happy in the end with his somewhat risky tactics.

– I tried to take the inside curve as a shortcut. It was a bit risky because there was a lot of ice there, but the coach said “try it” and I did it and it was worth it.

The German was very satisfied with the victory, the first in the massive start.

– A great victory for me. I am 33 years old and I have never made it so special before. I’m very happy.

Samuelsson with “pers”

Ponsiluoma had two third places in the sprint as the best previous result, one of which came in this great season.

Behind the overall lead, Sebastian Samuelsson finished eight with two booms within 30 seconds. It was his best result in a massive start.

Now a break at Christmas and New Years awaits the biathletes who competed intensely.
