Strong Swedish defeat: missed opportunity for a group win

Tre Kronor was unable to pressure Russia for the group win in the Channel One Cup. Instead, Sweden lost the final match of the tournament against the Czech Republic 1-4.

The first period started a bit low on the part of both teams. After the middle of the period, the game started to hack even more, when the Czech Republic attracted three expulsions in short order and Sweden had several opportunities in Powerplay. Something that would finally be worth it. Despite poorer Swedish Powerplay, they were finally able to unearth a goal lead after Jonatan Berggren used a return. The goal marked Berggren’s first goal in the Tre Kronor jersey.

The first goal in the first period was held in the second, where the Czech Republic received a dividend at the beginning of the period and drew 1-1.
With just over five minutes to go in the second period, the Czech Republic took the lead for the first time in the match, where Matej Blumel became the last Czech on the puck as he pushed the puck towards the goal, where the Swedish hill Klas Dahlbeck unfortunately directed the puck towards the goal with his skate.

And the cruel Czech second period was capped with another goal before the break. With just over a minute to go in the second period, the Czech Republic made it 1-3. He leads strong for Johan Garpenlöv and Sweden.

In the third period, Tre Kronor chased a downsizing. But instead it was the Czech Republic that extended their lead to 4-1 through Pavel Pycha with just over five minutes to play.
