HOCHFILZEN / STOCKHOLM. Sisters Hanna and Elvira Öberg managed to get on the podium together for the second time.
Elvira came in third after a powerful sprint, while Hanna finished second after a world-class final shot.
– Both I Elvira showed our best strengths today, says Hanna Öberg.
Sisters Hanna and Elvira Öberg shared the podium in a speed competition in Kontiolax a few weeks ago.
Hanna then earned her second win in a row, while Elvira took her first podium place in her career.
At the beginning of the Hochfilzen hunt, the sister’s success was repeated. They rose to the podium from fifth and sixth after two booms each.
Full on the last shot
After five hits on the last standing shooter, Hanna Öberg was able to pass several skiers, including Sister Elvira, who blocked.
She then drove as second unthreatened behind winner Tiril Eckhoff. Afterwards, Hanna Öberg talks about how passivity made her miss the first horizontal shot.
– I realized right away when the shuttle series ended that “what the hell am I doing?” This is not how I should shoot. Then on the second shot, I did as usual and was more offensive and then shot much better as well.
Elvira had to battle Dorothea Wierer and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold for the last place on the podium.
Wierer fell dramatically when he fell on the track when he tried to pass Elvira Öberg.
Awesome sprint
Öberg was then behind Landmark Tandrevold until the mutiny. But there, as before, the young Swede showed excellent sprinting qualities when she switched to Norwegian.
– She was reluctant and it was just a matter of hooking her up and waiting until she chose a corridor. So the technology did very well with the riots. It was very nice.
For Hanna Öberg, the podium was the fourth individual this season. For Elvira Öberg, it was the other.
Being allowed to share a stool again, they think it’s powerful.
– That he’s sick. If you go back five years and see where I was, in fact we were both where four or five years ago … It has happened a lot. Getting on the podium together again today is really great, says Elvira Öberg.
