Gunnar Melander’s horse dead Månprinsen AM

Cold-blooded star Månprinsen AM last raced in late June and then galloped, leading coach Gunnar Melander to suspect a broken hoof.

But then reassuring news came.

– The Prince of the Moon is alert and happy and does not show a limp. There is nothing swollen, from what I can tell it can’t be a fork strap injury for example. Like I said, I also don’t think he suffered a broken hoof bone, Melander told Travronden.

Moon Prince AM assassinated

On Friday, however, word came that Prince Luna AM had died. The horse was killed and Anders Bodin, breeder and co-owner of the horse, recounts the decision.

– This will affect Gunnar (Melander) but … it was no longer possible to keep the horse. Gunnar called me on Wednesday and told me that the horse had become completely different. He was as dangerous as old stallions can be. It is clear that this cannot be said so easily for Gunnar, Anders Bodin tells ATG.

Bodin continues:

– The best friend of the prince with whom he usually stands and licks his ears, began to get angry with him. It just couldn’t be handled, it didn’t feel right.

The owner cries: “Now there is only emptiness”

Owner Anna Maria Öberg writes about the loss after Månprinsen AM on Facebook.

Beloved wonderful horse you no longer exist but you will always live in my heart and soul. I never loved anyone or anything like you. Now it is only empty and missing. Looking forward to seeing you again on the other side of the rainbow bridge “writes Öberg.

During his career, Månprinsen AM was named Cold Blooded of the Year five times and won 71 races. The horse turned 13 years old.

At the beginning of the year, cold-blooded Järvsöfaks and Hallsta Lotus also died.
