It never ends.
Two Swedish leaders of the JVM team tested positive at Edmonton airport and now the Swedish quarantine runs until December 21.
– At the moment we are working to solve sporting problems together with the IIHF, says the general secretary of the association, Johan Stark.
What started with positive tests on players and leaders at home, a chaotic trip to Canada and a Team Manager sent home now continues with positive cases in Canada.
A press release from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association claims that two Swedish leaders (not coaches) tested positive upon arrival in Canada.
“Feel safe”
The International Hockey Federation announces that it is therefore extending the Swedish quarantine, which would end today, until December 21. According to the plan, Sweden would have faced Canada on the 21st and then Switzerland the following day in two preparatory training matches.
– We have received the message from the IIHF because of the two leaders who tested positive. We don’t have any more people on the team, players or leaders, who have tested positive in Edmonton. Right now we are working to solve the sporting problems together with the IIHF. The leaders and players are in good spirits and I trust the reports I receive from the team about the reload before the championship, says the secretary general of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, Johan Stark, in the press release.
German team hit hard
Seven Swedish players who had covid-19 in early autumn and are considered immune can start training today, announces press contact Linus Hugosson.
Worse still is the situation in the German team, where eight players tested positive for crown upon arrival in Canada, announces the IIHF. Therefore, Germans must be quarantined until Christmas Eve.
No additional team has tested positive upon arrival, but both the Finnish and Russian teams traveled with the Junior Crowns during the 14-hour trip on Sunday.
JVM starts as planned on the second day of Christmas. Sweden will then face the Czech Republic.
