The IMFC, which stands for International Monetary and Financial Committee, is the highest advisory body of the International Monetary Fund. It is now clear that Magdalena Andersson will assume the presidency.

– I am honored to have been appointed and by the great support of all the members of the IMFC, says Magdalena Andersson in a press release from the Ministry of Finance.

The Presidency will be combined with the role of Minister of Finance.

– It is clear that before those meetings, I will need some time and energy to meet and unite the will on how the IMF institution should be promoted. There will be some extra work, Magdalena Andersson tells TT.

This is the first time in 50 years that a Swede has held the position.
