Tegnell: Infection is more effective in autumn than we think

The alarms of an overloaded healthcare system have replaced each other and for several weeks the number of new patients has been higher than any of the three scenarios presented on July 21.

– Then we would have had a summer in which Sweden had the least spread of infection in Europe during the periods. It was also a long time before we saw an increase in Sweden. So I think we had some reason to be pretty positive, but we weren’t, says Anders Tegnell, a state epidemiologist.

Tegnell: must be of a reasonably reasonable level

The purpose of the scenarios was to provide other authorities with a base to prepare for the fall.

What is the argument against not including worst case scenario, when regions are given a chance to prepare?

– We still have to reach a level that I think is quite reasonable, we cannot propose scenarios that health care only says we cannot handle and therefore we do not need to prepare, says Anders Tegnell.
