Clearer and faster priorities
– It is a very great burden for the region as a whole. Through boost mode, we can coordinate our decisions even more effectively and prioritize even more clearly and quickly to ensure accessibility to healthcare and staff resilience, says Ann-Sofi Lodin.

The region rose in a personal mode at the beginning of November and now it is rising in a strengthening mode that has greater weight.
The reason is the very serious situation in care as a result of the spread of the infection in society and that the number of patients with covid-19 continues to increase sharply.

On Thursday, 420 people were treated with covid-19 in the region, 43 of them in the intensive care unit, VAT.
No signs of slowing down
According to the regional director, there are currently no signs that the difficult situation is slowing down or diminishing.

As a result, the staffing situation is very tense in all health and medical care administrations in the region.
– Many have already worked hard and for a long time and we are approaching Christmas and red days where many want to be free. Now we are trying to allocate resources and prioritize needs. Now solutions are being taken within hospitals: if the situation worsens even more, it may be relevant to request personnel for other hospitals, but we have not yet achieved it, he says.
A reinforcing situation means that the management of a hospital takes steps to strengthen and prioritize important health functions.
The situation is more acute than a personnel situation and several regions of the country have already introduced a reinforcement situation.
What is the next situation?
– It is a catastrophic situation and I sincerely hope that we do not get there, says Ann-Sofi Lodin.

The regional crisis management group is now tasked with coordinating special events, for example many patients in a special hospital, prioritizing needs among the various events and ensuring that large staffing needs are met.
Crisis management must also be responsible for ensuring that important information reaches the public quickly. Documents that may be necessary for urgent political decisions must also be produced.
On Thursday morning, hospitals in the Västra Götaland region had a total of 420 hospitalized patients with positive covid-19, of whom 43 were treated in the intensive care unit.
