The government is extending the temporary ban on travel to Sweden from countries outside the EU until March 31 next year.

Starting at the turn of the year, the UK will also be included in non-EU countries. Then the post-Brexit transition period ends.

The main rule is that the entry ban should apply to the UK. The government has decided on an exemption from the entry ban for those who are entitled to residency status in Sweden, that is, British citizens with families living and working in Sweden.

Residents within the EU still have the right to travel to Sweden, as well as residents of Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland, as well as several other countries.

The temporary entry ban was introduced on March 19. It has been expanded and modified on several occasions following the recommendations of the European Commission and the EU Council of Ministers.
