Action after a bank robbery in Kopparberg.

Handelsbanken in Kopparberg was assaulted today by armed perpetrators.

The police are chasing the thieves.

– They left the bank on foot, Gabriel Hening tells police in the Bergslagen region.

It was at 4 pm this afternoon that the police were alerted to Kopparberg after masked robbers attacked Handelsbanken in Konstmästaregatan.

– They threatened the staff with a weapon. It is currently unclear what they brought with them, says Gabriel Hening, press spokesman for the police in the Bergslagen region.

I left the scene

According to information to Aftonbladet, they are two masked robbers, but the police do not want to confirm it.

They also don’t want to comment further on its weaponry in detail, but call it “a gun-like object.”

– At the moment, we do not want to say too much, since it can affect any witness, says Gabriel Henning.

The robbers left the scene on foot, but they may have had a car parked nearby, according to police.

Police look for thieves

No person should have been physically injured during the robbery.

– Staff are isolated from the incident, but there should have been no physical violence.

The police have blocked the bank and are in place with a larger resource and are currently going after the perpetrators.

They secure clues, knock on doors in the area and question witnesses.

– No customers should have been on the site at the time, says Gabriel Henning.

“Take care of the staff”

Handelsbanken confirms that his office in Kopparberg has been robbed.

– The staff are, of course, shocked and our priority is to take care of them now. We have routines for that, says Viktoria Aastrup, Handelsbanken’s press manager.

She says some offices still have cash handling, but cannot comment on how much money the thieves received.

The Kopparberg police now want help from the public.

“All observations in Konstmästaregatan and nearby areas are of interest to the police,” they write on their website.

The incident is currently classified as normal grade robbery.

No alleged perpetrator has been arrested.
