Two villas in Sofieberg are on fire: dangerous smoke spreads through the city
Two villas in Sofieberg began to burn shortly after lunch. Emergency services and an ambulance are on the scene and several nearby villages are being evacuated as the public is being warned of dangerous smoke.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m. the fire alarm sounded. Emergency services and an ambulance have been called to the scene and units from three different stations are participating in firefighting efforts.
When the rescue service arrived, one of the villages was already on fire and another village had started to burn. The fires have created thick smoke that can be seen in the distance and police are helping the rescue service evacuate residents from nearby villages.
The rescue service and the police urge nearby residents to stay indoors and close the ventilation if they are not evacuated.
“A villa has a roof made of eternit which makes the smoke very dangerous to inhale. Nearby properties will be evacuated and people who live in, or for any other reason are in the immediate area and are not evacuated by staff. Rescuers should stay indoors and close. Windows and possible ventilation, ”police write in a press release.
The smoke from the fire burning in two villas in Sofieberg is extensive and can be seen in the distance.
According to the first information from the rescue service, no one should be left in any of the now burning villas and the ambulance there has not had to take anyone out of the fires.
