Terrorists who fought for the Islamic State in Syria have simultaneously received millions in various contributions from Sweden, GT reports.

According to the newspaper, it is a total of at least 45 people for whom the Swedish authorities paid, for example, child allowance, large family supplement, housing allowance and parental benefit, despite the fact that the people have left Sweden.

– It is directly outrageous that it happened, says Thomas Falk, who is the national coordinator against organized crime at the Swedish Social Security Agency, to GT.

In addition to the Swedish Social Security Agency, CSN, the Swedish Public Employment Service, unemployment insurance funds and the social services of several municipalities have also continued to pay money since ISA travelers left Sweden.

Among other things, a Norrköping woman received just over SEK 250,000 after the family left Sweden in 2015. Försäkringskassan has tried unsuccessfully to claim almost SEK 200,000 from her.

However, there is no general picture of how much money has been spent on IS travelers.

– There are some difficulties with that. We do not obtain or have records that indicate travelers from ISIS or any other group, motorcycle gang or the like, says Thomas Falk.
